Children have a natural urge to move: they run, climb, jump, balance and romp about – and through movement they discover their bodies and the world. Movement is far more than “sport”: it is the engine of all development. Through movement, children develop their bodies and their perception, but also their thinking, self-confidence and social skills. The psychomotor education (Psychomotorik) approach stresses this holistic connection between movement, perception, thinking and feeling. This course shows why movement matters so much, how movement and development are connected, how to support gross and fine motor skills, perception and body awareness, what defines the psychomotor approach, how to make movement part of everyday life and a source of joy, how to support children safely and, at the same time, with healthy risk, and how to establish a movement-friendly culture.
