In a day-care centre (Kita), people work closely together – as a team, in everyday life, often under demanding conditions. The quality of this cooperation has a major influence on the pedagogical work, on the wellbeing of the practitioners and, ultimately, on the wellbeing of the children. A good team – marked by appreciation, good communication, clear roles, a constructive approach to conflict and mutual support – is an important foundation of good work in a Kita and an important protective factor against strain. At the same time, cooperation is demanding: misunderstandings, tensions and conflicts are part of it and need to be handled constructively. This course covers the importance of good teamwork, the features of a good team, the basics of appreciative communication and constructive feedback, how to run team meetings, how to clarify roles and responsibility, how to understand and constructively resolve conflicts, nonviolent (appreciative) communication, peer consultation and support, and how to embed a good team culture.
