The skin is a protective barrier and a mirror of health – when it is injured, it becomes a portal of entry for suffering and infection. In 12 modules, this course (approx. 12 teaching units of 45 minutes each) covers professional wound care and pressure ulcer prevention: from the fundamentals of wound healing, the development, categories and prevention of pressure ulcers (national expert standard, DNQP), chronic wounds (leg ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome), aseptic, moist wound care and the dressing change to wound observation and documentation, recognising infections, wound pain and nutrition. Each module offers learning objectives, well-founded learning text, an in-depth section, a case study and a transfer-to-practice exercise. At the end: self-reflection, checklists and confirmation of participation. Specialised wound therapy is provided by physicians/wound care specialists; the course teaches the nursing fundamentals.
