Movement is life – and losing it has serious consequences. In 12 modules, this course (approx. 12 teaching units of 45 minutes each) shows how to maintain and promote mobility while protecting your own back: from the importance of movement and the consequences of immobility, the DNQP national expert standard on mobility, the fundamentals of Kinaesthetics, safe transfers, positioning and prophylactic measures (pressure ulcers, contractures) and promoting standing and walking to aids and ergonomic working. Each module offers learning objectives, well-founded learning text, an in-depth section, a case study and a transfer-to-practice exercise. At the end: self-reflection, checklists and confirmation of participation. The course provides a sound basis for practice but does not replace practical Kinaesthetics/transfer training.

Course objectives:

  • Understand the importance of mobility and the consequences of immobility
  • Apply the promotion of movement as a guiding principle (national expert standard on mobility)
  • Use the basic principles of Kinaesthetics
  • Carry out transfers and positioning safely and in a back-friendly way
  • Implement contracture and pressure ulcer prophylaxis through movement
  • Document movement and reflect it in the movement plan

Self-study without supervision, assignments or assessment of learning progress by instructors; the voluntary self-reflection is for your own orientation only. Your confirmation of participation becomes available once you have marked all modules as done yourself.

Scope: 12 modules of about 45 minutes each (approx. 12 teaching units of 45 minutes each, about 9 hours).
