To support children well, you need to know them – and that means observing them. Observation and educational documentation are core competences of pedagogical work. This comprehensive course (approx. 16 teaching units of 45 minutes each) shows you, across 12 modules, how to observe children in an appreciative and systematic way, how to separate observation from interpretation, how to look at strengths from a resource-oriented perspective, how to make sensible use of different observation methods and forms of documentation (learning stories, portfolios, developmental record sheets), how to uphold data protection, and how to use observations as a basis for pedagogical work, for parent conversations and for teamwork. Each module offers learning objectives, well-founded learning text with visualisations, an In depth section, a Case study and a Transfer-to-practice exercise. Note: a training course for developing pedagogical competence.
