Starting day-care is a big step for a child – the first longer separation from their parents, an unfamiliar environment, new people. How this settling-in period goes often shapes the child’s entire time in day-care. This comprehensive course (approx. 16 teaching units of 45 minutes each) shows in 12 modules how to shape an attachment-oriented, child-centred settling-in period: the fundamentals and the central role of attachment, the well-known settling-in models (Berlin, Munich, Tübingen) with their similarities and differences, the role of the parents and the key person, the gentle course of events in phases, sensitive support with separation distress and dealing with difficult settling-in periods. Each module offers learning objectives, sound learning text with visualisations, an In depth section, a Case study and a Transfer-to-practice exercise. Note: professional development course for developing pedagogical competence.
