Hygiene saves lives – nowhere more so than in care, where many vulnerable people live closely together. In 12 modules, this course (approx. 10 teaching units of 45 minutes each) teaches safe infection protection: from the fundamentals and routes of infection through hand hygiene (WHO 5 Moments) as the single most important measure, personal protective equipment, surface, instrument and laundry hygiene, dealing with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) and isolation to food hygiene, outbreak management with notification obligations under the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG), vaccinations and hygiene organisation (RKI/KRINKO). Each module offers learning objectives, a well-founded learning text, an in-depth section, a case study and a transfer-to-practice exercise. At the end: self-reflection, checklists and confirmation of participation.
Course objectives:
- Understanding the importance of hygiene and the routes of infection
- Applying hand hygiene (5 Moments) confidently

- Implementing surface, instrument and laundry hygiene professionally

Self-study without supervision, assignments or assessment of learning progress by instructors; the voluntary self-reflection is for your own orientation only. Your confirmation of participation becomes available once you have marked all modules as done yourself.
